Installation of the MonTel Server and Central components

Please read this before running install.

Currently the MonTel Server and Central components such as MonexSv and MonImpSv need to be run on a NT type of operating system, specifically Windows 2000 (Win2K), Windows XP (WinXP), Windows 2003 Server and so on. There are two configurations for the MonTel Server.

  1. Console Mode, which is run in a console window on a logged in system.
  2. Service Mode which is a version of the console version, that can be run as part of the operating system, and does not require that a user be login in (though it still needs to run in the context of a legitimate user on the network). Service mode can be monitored by MtAdmin.

The SERVER module must be run on a computer connected to computer Network and be able to extract information from a PABX (which is generally via a serial cable).

The program will run 24 hours a day. However, there are timed shut down options so it can be turned off to allow for overnight back ups.

The server module should be run as a dedicated user on the Network so you can select and specify rights, privileges and access to MonTel, and users directories, while maintaining network security.

Ideally, the MonTel PABX Server PC should be located in a secure area. The user login account for the MonTel Server should have at least; read rights to the application directory, write rights to the user's directory, and be able to read and write to its own directory and a shared master data directory. The suggested user name is MONTEL.

While the MonTel Server and the MonTel Client software are completely independent, remember that the executable location must be shared, so it is preferable to place the executables on the file server, with the Server being run remotely on the MonTel server PC.
