This Netwiz Technical Support Note has been sent to announce that MonTel 2.9.70 is up on the web site. 2.9.70 was quick replaced for a small bug introduced in 2.9.69 (http://www.netwiz.com.au/appnotes/i3272.htm). 2.9.69 fixes several mostly minor issues, and one rather big one concerning reading long directory names in the Server.
MONTEL SERVER WON'T RESOLVE (DIR) SETTING FOR SOME USERS (since about version 2.9.65)
A regression error (introduced after 2.9.65 - probably 2.9.67), caused the servers not to read any user information other than user name and extension. This meant that the directory name, department and group information was not being read for each user.
NEW COSTING TABLES ARE NEARLY READY
In fact they are ready to go. I just need some confirmation that the results are correct and so I need your help. For more information see http://www.netwiz.com.au/costing/tcost.php.
COMPACTING MONTEL CLIENT DATABASES
While MS SQL Server (and MSDE) is very reliable there are still some maintenance that should be performed. The most significant to "compact" or SHRINK the database is you have been performing a lot of imports. Those sites that do a lot of imports, for example monimp.exe once an hour should look an setting up a script to do a compact ion say every month or so. Failure to do so may cause the database to grow beyond the allowed size.
The following script should work from osql.exe (assuming the database is named MONTELDB):
USE master
GO
DBCC SHRINKDATABASE (MONTELDB)
GO
