MonTel ServerCN beta test. (now at 198.5)
Sydney found another issue with the latest version, in that the CPU usage had risen to 100 percent when idle (effectively, it was not surrendering the time slice while waiting for a serial port event). I also found an issue with the error log not being recorded on the correct drive. Details at http://www.netwiz.com.au/appnotes/i3135.htm.
The fix is available (ServerCN.zip) on the web site (build 2.198.5) in the usual place.
(EdIni32 has been removed from this distribution to prevent compatibility issues with version 2.9.57).
I made a comment that on a 486 machine the console version was too slow to use. As you might have guessed this was due to the CPU usage being too high, and the 486 machine in question NOW keeps up with the data at 9600 baud.
I'll give it another week of testing next week. Please let me know you findings. I plan to run it on a Win2k and Win95 machine for as long as it takes to collect a million records (about a week), which will be the equivalent of about 5 years data for a medium size firm.
