This article addresses the situation of having one of just a few of the MonTel Client running unexpectedly slowly.
Assuming that the MonTel Client has been successfully installed with no errors, that the machine is comparable in performance with others that are working correctly, then it is reasonable to conclude that the problem is local to this computer, and out-side of MonTel since MonTel is generally run from the Server. Make sure that you have upgraded MonTel to use SQL Server or MSDE.
A first step might be to de-install (remove) the MonTel Client, the MonTel Directory on the local computer, and the MonTel.INI file if it still exists in the Windows directory after the removal of the client. Scan the hard drive for errors (and correct them), and de fragment the drive. Then re-install the MonTel client.
If this fails, check for other software that might be causing problems. See especially, the topic TROUBLE SHOOT: MonTel Client runs slowly on some Win9x systems with Norton's Anti-Virus.
It the network is a Netware base network see MonTel Client runs slowly or updates slowly on Netware Networks.
If all else fails it might be a hardware problem. This article (Five reasons for slow PCs form ZDNet Australia) might provide some clues of where to look: http://www.zdnet.com.au/itmanager/technology/story/0,2000029587,20267186,00.htm.
