MONTEL 2.10.17

This Netwiz Technical Support Note has been sent to announce that MonTel 2.10.17 full release is up on the web site. MonTel Version 2.10.x is now being used on the majority of sites. Version 2.9.x is no longer available for download. In fact, 2.10.n has too many feature improvements to ignore, especially the new costing tables and and web reports.

The costing tables have also been updated and corrected in the last month. These have a snap shot of the Australian numbering plan from late April, including both new terrestrial and mobile numbers. Please note that because of this new costing system, MonTel can provide accurate costing information for ANY location in Australia. MonTel is NOT limited to capital cities.

The changes for 2.10.17 are relatively minor. The SQL login screen has some extra features to make first time installations easier. There is some additional support in the Server for text based log file input of call records, with the Server able to handle change of file names.

For full details see Version 2.10.x: Changes, fixes and new features at http://www.netwiz.com.au/appnotes/i3342.htm .

You can download this version from the usual place at http://www.netwiz.com.au/secure/montel32_v2_10.html .

There has been a persistent problem where in some circumstances the Server Service would fail to create new user folders. This was supposed to have been addressed in the past, but has finally been resolved with this release. EdIni32 has been tidied up a little and should be a fraction more readable.

The biggest changes are the ones you shouldn't notice, and is the reason for such a gap between updates. These changes are that many small parts of the code base been rewritten to handle both the Borland and Microsoft 'c' compliers. 2.10.x is all in Borland 'c'.

If you want to see the code recompiled in Microsoft 'c' try version 2.11.x (alpha). This version has exactly the same features, though the executables are slightly smaller, and may even be a little bit faster. Version 2.11.x is where the new features will appear (which is why it is called an Alpha version), including a NEW client written in 'c', which should be faster and much more reliable and the the current VB code. If you have any features you would like included please let me know.
