Why can't I delete some clients or contacts (or other items for that matter).
When MONTEL updates a call record it creates links to items, rather than copying all the details each time. This makes MONTEL faster and saves hard drive space. It also means that when a detail (say in a client) is corrected, it is corrected for all references, not just the current one. The problem is that you don't want to delete the client if there are call records or other items linked to it, as this would cause errors (a referential integrity violation) when these items are accessed. Therefore you cannot delete a client (or other item) if they have been linked to a disbursement record or other item.
I understand that you can't delete a client from the database if there are calls against the client, but I don't think that it's being handled properly when you wish to remove a client?
There is a little check box - called "terminate". When this is checked, the Client (or Matter) disappears from all lists and suggestions. You can only access it by typing in the correct code - AND you can't do an update in the InfoBox with a "terminated" client code.
